In Rome long ago, women were less than men. Men were always in charge leaving women with house keeping to do. Finally, on the subject of gladiators, I wonder what else could be new there that hasn’t already been covered to death before, as this is the topic that is most commonly covered by most writers on Rome. Everyone is fascinated by the arena and while there are many misconceptions regarding the actual combat, almost everyone is familiar with the Roman fascination with death as a public spectacle, with violent encounters being staged on a daily basis between humans and beasts, humans and humans and other forms of ultra violent action. Dining out- One of the most popular activities for the upper class in Rome was dining out, or dinner parties. These parties were decorated with flowers, and usually accompanied by music.

Amongst others, the Lex Cornelia, Lex Publicia and Lex Titia forbade the game of dice and the penalty could have the perpetrator sent to jail or fined. We are all amateur historians and living history enthusiasts who recreate the military and civilians from across the Roman Republic and Empire, from the founding of Rome to the fall. We depict soldiers, tavern owners, senators, Celts, doctors, Greeks, lawyers, gladiators, patricians and plebians, and many other groups from this wide culture.
But these new building types and materials also provoked experimentation – new shapes, such as the barrel vault and the arch – acquired from Rome’s expansion to the Middle East.nnHadrian was, in architectural matters, both conservative and audacious. He was infamously respectful of Ancient Greece – comically so to some: he wore a Greek-style beard, and was nicknamed Graeculus.
